Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (halal or chicken alternative)
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 medium onion, diced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup beef broth (alcohol-free)
1 tbsp paprika
1 tsp thyme
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
1 bag frozen tater tots (8 oz)
1 cup mild cheese shreds (optional, for extra gooeyness)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Heat olive oil in a skillet, cook ground beef until browned. Add mushrooms and onions; sauté until softened.
Pour in broth and seasonings (paprika, thyme). Simmer 5 minutes.
Transfer mixture to a casserole dish. Top with Swiss cheese and frozen tater tots.
Bake 20-25 minutes until top is golden and crispy.
Notes
For vegetarian version: Substitute ground beef with crumbled tofu or plant-based alternative. Add frozen tater tots still frozen for optimal crispiness. Use halal-certified cheese if required.
